Did you ever hear the expression “it is exactly what it is”? What does that expression mean exactly?
Before I understood the deeper meaning of this expression, I envisioned an emaciated yogi guru within the lotus position floating over the ground imperiously imparting wisdom that will take scholars multiple lifetimes to interpret. Since that is my last life in the world and the lotus position would put me in traction, I knew that consulting the Course In Miracles would help me clarify its meaning.
What is the IT that we are covering here? According to the Course in Miracles, IT is truth, specifically God’s truth. How come it’s crucial that you emphasize it’s God’s truth? Because God’s truth is not offered to interpretations whereas a human’s truth is. Multiple versions of human truth have result in a several religions. The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia defines religion being a “system of thought, feeling, and action that’s shared by the group and that provides the members a thing of devotion.”
Who devised the device of thought? On whose feelings are these thoughts based? Are actions really necessary? In accordance with the Course In Miracles, God just is and our ultimate goal would be to come back to a perfect condition of being. There’s no thought or action inside the state of being, you merely are. What must not be forgotten could be the underlying thread of most religions: God is creator, God is love and we’re all perfect and infinite children of God.
Put one way, “it is exactly what it is” may be rewritten to “God’s love will be the only truth in fact it is absolute” this also truth knows no bounds and it is timeless.
