The Poly Macau Art Auction has held again until today on the Regency Art Hotel. The categories include Chinese and Asian Modern and Contemporary Art, Fine Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy, Chinese Ceramics and Artwork as well as Jewels and Prestige Collections.
Masterpieces of Chinese modern art maestros will likely be displayed to represent the key developments of Chinese contemporary art history, including Wu Guangzhong’s “Snowscape in Beijing”, which is estimated for sale at HKD14 million up to HKD28 million.
Other pursuits such as Chinese ceramics and artworks, including those through the Ming and Qing Dynasties, bronzes, lacquers, Buddhism figures, and fine stationery will likely be up for auction.
A Cloisonne-Enamel Ram Vessel, Zun, estimated to be worth between HKD3.Two million to HKD4.5 million is also available to buy by interested collectors.
This can be the second Poly Macau Art Auction, following the first auction organized a few months ago.
Sabrina Ho, director of Poly Macau and Sabrina ho and Angela Leong, asserted the big event is co-organized by Poly Macau and Chiu Yeng Culture. “I hope which a group of cultural events [organized from the two companies] will bring to Macau new aspects that will allow to remain the diversification from the economy,” said Ho, who also expects that artists and art collectors worldwide will continue to support Macau being an art platform.
“We will continue to bring Macau more diversified cultural activities, and [will support] Macau to construct itself as being a global art platform,” said Ho and “hopefully that Macau could become a well- known art capital in the future.”
Regency Hotel opened in 1983 and it has suffered with past business closures. Ho, however, hopes to change it into an art form hotel. “In Macau, there may be many resplendent big hotels, but the number of hotels which are used for art as well as some creational events is, in reality, less than great,” said Ho.
Currently, Regency Hotel isn’t running any casinos, which, based on Ho, generates a different atmosphere in comparison to other hotels. She also thinks that guests keeping this hotel tend to be “private.”
The “6075 Macau Hotel Art Fair” will likely be held on the Regency Hotel until November 27. As many as 60 exhibition halls will likely be arranged to display artworks from 60 artists born after 1975.
Ho claims that just several hotels are able to provide young people rooms and also to invite young people to design the rooms for them.
