Did you ever hear the expression “it is exactly what it is”? Precisely what does that expression mean exactly?
Before I understood the deeper meaning of this expression, I envisioned an emaciated yogi guru within the lotus position floating across the ground imperiously imparting wisdom that could take scholars multiple lifetimes to interpret. Seeing as how this can be my last life in the world as well as the lotus position would put me in traction, I knew that consulting the program In Miracles would help me clarify its meaning.
What’s the IT that we’re writing about here? Based on the Course in Miracles, It really is truth, specifically God’s truth. Why do important to emphasize that it is God’s truth? Because God’s facts are not offered to interpretations whereas a human’s simple truth is. Multiple versions of human truth have cause a many religions. The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia defines religion being a “system of thought, feeling, and action that is shared by the group and that increases the members an item of devotion.”
Who devised the system of thought? On whose feelings are these thoughts based? Are actions really necessary? According to the Course In Miracles, God just is and our ultimate goal is always to return to a perfect condition of being. There’s no thought or action in the condition of being, you just are. What should not be forgotten will be the underlying thread of most religions: God is creator, God is love and we are all perfect and infinite kids of God.
Put yet another way, “it is what it is” might be rewritten to “God’s love is the only truth which is absolute” and this truth knows no bounds and is also timeless.
