Uzbekistan tours

The majority of Uzbekistan’s population are Uzbeks from the ethnic group, which are Turkic groups, but there are substantial minorities of Russians. About 90% of the population are Muslim. There are Orthodox Christians and Buddhists, Jews as well as Jews living within the country. As with Central Asians, Uzbeks are famously warm and welcoming. It is traditional to shake hands with people and ask them questions about their family health, personal, and social lives.

Uzbekistan tours allow you to explore the cuisine of the country and give tips to others. The typical meal can consist of meals like palov (rice) that is mixed with carrots, onions and meat. Or mutton cooked in an oven called a tandir. Uzbeks consume dumplings referred to as manti, and a local variant of Kebabs. There is a wide variety of Uzbek dishes with traditional green and black teas as well as drinking yogurt called the ayran. Even though Uzbekistan is a majority Muslim country, it’s secular. This means that you can enjoy locals wines produced in the region.

Uzbekistan is part of the group of Central Asian countries between Asia and the Middle East. Its neighbours are Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan. Uzbekistan has also a coastline in the Aral Sea and the large but shallow lake Sarygamysh. Around 80% of the country is covered by the Kyzyl Kum, also known as the ‘red sand’ desert. There is a small amount of fertile soil in the Fergana Valley. The Tian Shan Range is located in the southern part of Uzbekistan’s mountains.

The bazaars in Uzbekistan are a shoppers’ paradise. Here, haggling is not only a normal part of the culture but it’s also a good laugh. The Tashkent markets, especially the Chorsu Bazaar, are great to find bargains. There are Soviet memorabilia such as stamps and portraits of Lenin, military uniforms and caps. Other local souvenirs include pale and intricately designed pottery, colorful rugs and clothes and jewelry made with traditional silver. The Bukhara bazaar is perhaps the most photographed, thanks to its abundance of fresh food and smiling people.
