Travellers to Tajikistan are not required to get immunized. However, they should be vaccinated in Typhoid and Tetanus in addition to Polio, Hepatitis A and Polio. Malaria is also able to be found in Tajikistan and it’s an excellent idea to talk to your local GP for recommendations on vaccinations.

The first thing you should know about traveling through Central Asia is that most regions, including the towns and cities are much more relaxed approach to Islam than their neighboring areas to the south in Afghanistan and Pakistan. However, it should be kept in mind that this is technically a Muslim region and therefore an extra dose of caution is required in certain areas. T-shirts and long shorts are acceptable for males and females in urban areas, but if visiting any active mosques everybody should wear trousers that fall below the knee, and tops that cover shoulders. Women must also wear their headscarf. The trip takes us to remote places that are not usually visited by tourists. Locals are extremely conservative in their dressing and you’re likely to feel more at ease in a conservative dress code too.
Language & Religion
Tajik is the official language of Tajikistan. Russian is still widely used to communicate and for business.
A majority of people follow Sunni Islam. A small proportion of people are believers of Russian Orthodox, Catholicism and Buddhism.
Food and beverages
This tour concentrates on soups and other meats. Vegetables can be difficult to discover in remote areas, and at higher elevations. There are plenty of dried nuts and dried fruits to try though.
The alcohol choices are limited to beer and vodka. Anyone who wants to experiment with something different, such as Scotch or Gin is recommended to buy it at no cost and carry it along. It isn’t easy to locate mixer drinks such as tonic water.
