Garage Sale Saturdays…The Hunt Is On!

Saturday’s “To Do” list gets underway with GO TO Rummage sales!
Planning my route the night before, testing my gps on my cell phone and circling the garage sale listings within the paper really are a Friday night ritual.
Town I live in is really a “Planned Community”. So that it is pre-planned and strategically laid out. It can be divided into Sections and each section is represented by a letter. The “P” section is made up of streets you start with the letter P: Perkins, Parking, Parkins, Penny. You get the idea! Inside the P section, there are several retirees and young professionals. The W section is most likely the rich and ritzy area of town Then this B section is older yet sadly, more run down. The R section is full of lovers with children. The S Section is south of town and regarded inside the boondocks just because the lots are larger and yes it feels more country. Lastly, the C Section is when the canals, intracoastal, boats, boats plus more boaters live. Each section possesses its own characteristics and community. Despite the fact that many of us are area of the larger town, these “sections” develop over town to draw in a particular ambience. The location with plenty of children have 2 elementary schools and sidewalks throughout. The “Country” part of town doesn’t have any street lights and is off the beaten track from your remainder of town. But, public storage auctions has foibles and laws we all try to abide.

We are allowed Two currently have each year. We have been required to buy a $5 permit for each and every of such sales and our signage is found and destroyed by noon on Saturday mornings. It’s not at all a conducive atmosphere for a Yard sale Business out of your home!
Some people have ignored every one of the rules, communicated making use of their neighbors about their needs and plans and in actual fact come up with a fairly good living putting on the garage sale event monthly! However when they get caught disobeying the policies, they feign innocence towards the rules and promise to prevent try it again! But, a month later when everything has calmed backpedal, there’ll suddenly be another garage sale! Most of the people in the neighborhood could care less and life goes on!
For the Wednesday prior to the Friday/Saturday Yard sale rush, all of the all sales is released in your local shopping guide, The Pennysaver. People list their address, time and date of sale and a couple of “hook” items which will attract the throngs of super sale seekers. I faithfully pour in the Pennysaver dividing the sale addresses into town’s sections and plot my Saturday journey!
I leave for that sales until around 11am since the majority of such sales end by 1 or 2pm. Therefore, once I get for the sale, the people are ready to sell off all of the their stuff for almost any price you offer them. Because i am NEVER seeking anything in particular… just real deals, I’ve been in a position to purchase (without negotiation) entire rooms of furniture, enormous collections of old china and enough fabric to stitch clothes to get a under developed nation! And that i bought it for around $5!!! I have a weekly budget of approximately $20 for rummage sales and only a few times have I ever reviewed that quantity!!!
So, with this weekend, I will be plotting out about 10 sales in a 10 mile variety of my house. Let me leave at 11 am and be back by 3pm i know….The rear seat from the car will likely be LOADED!!!!
Oh! And Happy Junquin’!!!
Amy
