I’ve been providing photography for corporate and special occasions for over 2 decades. We are located in Palm Springs. There are quite Gala photographers DC of large resorts such as the Marriott Desert Springs, Westin Mission Hills, La Quinta Resort, Renaissance Esmeralda Resort. Most companies hold their sales and incentive meetings at these resorts and sometimes need photography. But what sort of photography?
It is important to me as being a photographer to question the planner what they need to use the photography for. Could they be planning to utilize the photographs for a corporation newsletter? If so then I have to allow the photographs be descriptive. They need to show what went down at the event, who had previously been there, what you learned. Hopefully each photograph will tell the story of the items the organization did within their meeting along with what their objective was.
What if the pictures are intended as gifts? Often, especially at incentive trips, the images are in a thank-you gift on the attendees. In that case the photographer needs to capture images of the guests having a great time, experiencing the trip. Photographs that they can might want to have within their home or in a scrap book. A favorite kind of event to photograph is often a multiple day incentive trip for any group of less than 200 people. The photographer can get to learn people and they also get acquainted with the photographer. That really shows within the photographs. People are more animated from the photograph. If they believe their photographer is often a friend, they they appear on the camera in a different way. It shows within their face from the photograph. As well as the photographer has fun too!
We recently updated our website. Even as were hoping to find photographs to put on the website it was clear once the people were having fun and knew the photographer, versus if the people didn’t while they were having a great time. But the over riding objective whenever we photograph a business event would be to make sure that we deliver just what the planner wants using their photography.
